Standardized Sampling and Precision Testing Specifications
Parentage testing compares 58 gene loci for Mendelian inheritance.
Feather collection:
1. Wash hands thoroughly before sampling. Pluck 4-6 feathers and air-dry them slightly, then place them into a clean, uncontaminated self-sealing sample bag. When placing, avoid contaminating the feather roots. Try to pluck larger feathers, such as those from wings, wing coverts, and chest, to ensure detection success.
2. Seal the sample bag and use a marker to write sample information (e.g., ring number, test item) on the surface of the sealed bag.
Regarding feather sample collection from newborn squabs:
1. Because newborn squabs have very fine yellow down, pluck at least 6-10 feathers. Be gentle to avoid breaking them. Only down feathers with roots (follicle tissue) can be detected.
2. Squab down feathers are tiny and require special sample collection tubes for storage and shipping. Please order and pay at least one week before the squabs hatch. We will then immediately send you the sample collection tube kit by express, so that you can collect down samples on the day of hatching and send them back promptly.
We will process and test the squab down samples as soon as we receive them. Results can be sent to you within 5-7 working days, so you can select your young racers in time.
